Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking ahead to Saturday’s crucial match with Huddersfield Town looking for a win as they bid to stay in the Premier League and some good news has started to come out for the St. James’ Park outfit.
The Magpies have been without a number of players during the campaign, with injuries striking down some of their main figures, however, news that Matt Ritchie and Islam Slimani are both in training and ready to be involved has helped ease some of the locals’ fears.
Ben Dinnery, who is a freelance injury data analyst, took to Twitter to provide Newcastle fans with some more positive injury news that was coming out of the club and could feature towards the main part of the season.
Elliot and Gamez close in on a return. The pair weren't part of the recent warm-weather training camp in Spain, instead they remained on Tyneside to continue their work with the medical team. "We have to wait, but maybe by the start of next month they will be back.” #NUFC

Rob Elliot and Jesus Gamez are both reportedly nearing returns, although it does remain questionable whether either will be involved with the first-team.
Martin Dubravka has been performing solidly since his winter arrival, whilst the Spanish defender has failed to make much of an impact since he joined the Magpies in 2016, with speculation that both could leave the club in the summer.
The Newcastle fans in the Tavern will be delighted that their squad is returning to full-fitness when it matters, however, a number of locals may not be concerned on the news of Elliot of Gamez with both failing to make impacts in recent memory.
