Newcastle United

He’s only rated at £7.2m but Newcastle would improve on Ritchie with Spaniard swoop

The Newcastle fans in and around the Transfer Tavern are believing that Rafa Benitez can again inspire the team to another successful season, having reached the top 10 in their first year back in the top flight.

The Magpies have finally delved into the transfer market and secured the free transfer signing of Ki Sung-Yueng, which adds extra midfield quality to accompany the likes of Mikel Merino and Jonjo Shelvey. Our punters are in agreement however that a free signing alone won’t allow Newcastle to progress but adding Adama Traore as well certainly would.

The £7.2 million valued winger has enjoyed personal success with Middlesbrough last season, scoring 5 goals and creating 12 assists in all competitions for the Championship side. Having been in the Premier League for a few years prior to last season, everyone knew about his electric pace and physical power but he had no end product to accompany those attributes.

Now that he has shown what he can do in-front of goal, seeing as Newcastle have lost Kenedy back to his parent club and Matt Ritchie is reportedly close to joining Stoke City, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, Adama Traore is a very much needed player right now for Newcastle, not only for his quality but also for his ability to play out on the wing, with Newcastle sure to be short of wide options.

The Spaniard is still just 22-years-old which means he has years ahead of him to reach his peak potential and show the rest of the league how good he can really be, our punters just hope that he proves that in a black and white Newcastle shirt.
