It’s time Newcastle took a leaf out of Celtic’s transfer playbook, here’s how

Our Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hugely excited about their return to the Premier League and, indeed, the players they are going to sign in the summer window.

Of course, the Magpies’ faithful cannot know for sure right now as to who is going to come in but part of the summer window is obviously reading the gossip columns and trying to work out which rumours are most plausible.

The men from Tyneside, though, do need some new faces and, in our opinion, it could be time for them to take a leaf out of Celtic’s book when it comes to transfers.

The Bhoys were masterful in the market under Brendan Rodgers last summer with the likes of Moussa Dembele coming in and it’s that willingness to put faith in youth that Newcastle need to replicate most.

Indeed, Dembele has been a revelation playing for a huge club in his quest to be the best and, with Newcastle of a similar stature to the Scottish champions, they too could make use of the vast amounts of hungry talent available.

Certainly, there’s so many young players not getting their chance at the likes of Chelsea or Manchester United and the other top clubs so isn’t time Newcastle offer them a superb platform?

The Magpies are the kind of club always on the look out for its next icon and offering that chance to players of Dembele’s ilk could just prove an inspired move from Rafa Benitez.
