The Newcastle United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are desperately hoping the club can continue on the upward trajectory they set themselves on after the international break. Indeed, with the punters propping up our bar now confident of survival, our drinkers clad in black and white believe a few more wins will do the trick.
So, with that in mind, their clash at home to Huddersfield Town at the end of the month looks huge. If the Magpies can record a win over their fellow promoted side, our resident Geordies reckon that could be survival wrapped up. To that end, they are wondering about January signing, Islam Slimani.
The Algerian marksman joined the club on loan from Leicester City on deadline day though is yet to feature due to injury and Shields Gazette journalist Miles Starforth has provided an update. Currently out with the rest of the squad in Spain, the forward has been training largely in the gym while his teammates practice outside.

Though it’s barely the promising news many Mags would have been hoping for, at least Slimani is involved on the trip and there’s time before the game in two weeks time.
Welcoming Slimani back for a crucial game with Huddersfield would be the biggest and best boost Newcastle could ask for. They’ve given themselves a great chance at staying up now and his inclusion in such a crucial would only continue the feelings of goodwill on Tyneside.
