Life is really rather good for the Newcastle United fans here in the Transfer Tavern right now and those propping up our bar are ready to sing Rafa Benitez’s name long into the night. Indeed, despite a difficult summer, the Spaniard is working wonders on Tyneside.
Having not had an awful lot of money to spend over the summer months, our punters clad in black and white have pointed to the likes of Joselu and Mikel Merino as very clever signings. Still, there’s another man who is yet to fully impress our Geordie contingent.
The biggest summer signing – Jacob Murphy – can’t currently get into the team ahead of either Matt Ritchie or Christian Atsu and certainly has had to bide his time with the Magpies. However, speaking about the former Norwich man on Twitter, Chronicle journalist Mark Douglas hinted he is confident about the 22-year-old.

With a busy schedule ahead of the Toon Army as the festive period edges ever closer, the winger has seemingly impressed Douglas.
Murphy does provide the sort of pace and palpable goal threat Newcastle missed at times last year. If he can get up to speed with the Premier League, then Benitez has quite the player on his hands.
