While the celebrations from winning the Championship title are continuing for the Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern, there remains some anxiety in the ranks.
Rafa Benitez’s long-term future at St. James’ Park remains the subject of debate, with the Spaniard’s talks with Mike Ashley causing many Magpies to fret.
Having failed to bring anyone over the course of the January transfer market, the 57-year-old’s future was cast into doubt, though there’s little doubt Newcastle United is once again a positive and happy football club.
Ashley has never been the most popular figure amongst the Toon Army, though Northern Echo journalist Miles Starforth has provided a key update.

He’s revealed the talks at Newcastle’s Benton training base reportedly went well and that the situation is indeed looking positive.
As you can imagine, this has gone down a storm amongst the Geordies in the bar, who hope Benitez lifting a trophy on Tyneside becomes much more of a regular occurrence over the years.
