Tensions have eased over at Newcastle United in recent weeks.

Having won 3 out of their last 5 games, including a crucial one against Manchester City, The Magpies’ chances of survival seem much brighter. Rafa Benitez’s clever signings are finally bearing fruit but, undoubtedly, the biggest impact has been made by Salomon Rondon.

The former West Bromwich Albion striker’s been brought on loan, which is turning out as a highly profitable deal for Newcastle. The Venezualan’s scored 6 goals in a relatively poor season for Newcastle and has double the goals over anyone else in the team. Rondon’s Premier League experience, goal-scoring instincts and physicality have all played into Benitez’s favour.

He’s scored extremely important goals to win them matches, having himself won them 9 points so far this season. It’s no surprise Rafa wants him to be signed permanently if he’s to continue as Newcastle boss. Any future plans the Spaniard has, the striker is pivotal toward them.

One can’t blame Benitez to be so reliant on the hard-working striker. Not only has the Venezuelan scored at regular intervals, he always plays to his team’s strength. Be it holding up the ball or creating space for his team-mates, he’s often single-handedly improved the attacking style of Newcastle.

With Miguel Almiron's arrival, Rondon’s destined to get even better. He can now properly focus on just scoring rather than creating and can bully opponents. If Newcastle are to progress further under Benitez’s leadership, getting him signed permanently is an absolute necessity at this time.
