Landing Kenedy is without doubt the best signing Newcastle can possibly make this summer

According to a report from The Newcastle Chronicle, Newcastle United are seeking to get a deal done for Kenedy in the near future. The 22-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at the North East giants and excelled to help them to a tenth place finish in the Premier League, thus prompting many Magpies fans up and down the country to demand his signature this summer.

And with the club reportedly ‘hoping’ to get a loan deal done imminently, Rafa Benitez’s side are on the verge of the best signing they can possibly make this summer.

The Breakdown

Ultimately, the Brazilian star made a big difference to the Newcastle team last season following his temporary move from Chelsea back in the winter window, with Kenedy helping to give the Magpies more flair and creativity in the final third of the pitch.

The 22-year-old may have only ended the campaign with two goals and two assists from his 13 Premier League appearances for the club, which are hardly ground-breaking figures, but what was noticeable was how much more of an attacking threat Benitez’s men were with the winger in the team.

And if the Magpies are serious about moving to the next level this time round, and perhaps returning to their former glories under Benitez in the years to come, they simply must retain their most influential stars – Kenedy definitely falls into that bracket.

He lit up St James’ Park pretty much throughout his time at the club with all four of his contributions coming at home, becoming a fan favourite in his short spell in the North East such was his attacking endeavour, but also his desire to work defensively for the team – that is exactly what Benitez wants from his players.

Ultimately, take Kenedy out of that Newcastle side, and they are immediately lacking that spark they had throughout the second half of the season – as such, they simply wouldn’t be the same side going forward, and would no doubt carry less of a threat in the final third.

As such, while the Magpies have already completed a deal to bring Martin Dubravka to the club permanently, alongside the addition of Ki Sung-Yueng, there is no question that landing Kenedy would be the best signing they can possibly make this summer.
