Tottenham Hotspur are certainly not the easiest of opening fixtures for Newcastle United. Rafa Benitez will likely be hoping the club can bring in more recruits before they face the North London outfit.

Whilst they as yet have not brought in any new recruits, Spurs boast such a high level of quality in their side, it is difficult to improve. The Magpies will have to face a Spurs side desperate to get off to a good start.

Newcastle are going to have to focus defensively to take anything out of their opening Premier League game. Offensively, Pochetinno's Spurs are explosive. Golden Boot winner Harry Kane fronts the attack, and he is backed up by the creativity of players like Dane Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli. Kieran Trippier will be looking to make overlaps and stretch the Newcastle defence. From a tactical stance, Benitez has his hands full.

Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld have formed one of the most solid centre-back pairings in the Premier League, finding ways to force Hugo Lloris in to making saves.

With that in mind, Benitez needs to make sure he has these two players signed before Newcastle face Spurs on the opening weekend...

Danny Ings would be a wonderful addition for Newcastle. Indeed, while the Magpies have been working hard to replace the likes of Dwight Gayle and Aleksandar Mitrovic, the signing of Ings would be a total upgrade.

A hard-working, clinical marksman, Ings would be able to relaunch himself at a big club like Newcastle after his injury-laden time at Anfield, potentially even working his way back into the England squad. Indeed, the Toon Army love their forwards and it could be a match made in heaven, should the Magpies be able to pull it off.

The Sassuolo defender spent last season on loan with Sampdoria in Serie A.

Transfermarkt value the player at £9m.

The ball-playing centre-back would be the perfect partner at the back for Jamaal Lascelles. The Italian 26-year-old is a modern centre-back, who is comfortable playing out from the back and always seems to have time on the ball. A player the standard of Ferrari at the back would help Newcastle keep hold of possession, and not let Tottenham dominate the ball.
