‘Legend’ – Newcastle United fans on Twitter show love for their in-form star

The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a post from their club’s Spanish forward, Ayoze Perez as he reached the landmark of playing his 100th Premier League game against Leicester on the weekend. Perez scored Newcastle’s second goal at the King Power Stadium as the Magpies got one over the Foxes, taking home all three points with a 2-1 win.

The Spaniard signed for Newcastle almost four years ago when he joined from CD Tenerife back in summer 2014 and since his move, the 24-year-old hasn’t looked back. Just this season Perez has scored four goals and assisted four more in his 30 Premier League appearances as the Geordies canter towards survival. The side’s recent form has helped them in their battle against relegation as they’ve won their last three games and now sit ten points clear of the drop zone.

The Magpies propping our bar up will take particular pleasure from the second part of Perez’ tweet, as he said he wants 100 more Premier League games with the club. Perez has become a well-loved figure in the North East and whilst the Spaniard is unlikely to be receiving a call-up to the national team anytime soon, it won’t stop the 24-year-old from putting in everything at club level. Perez will be keen to increase his output for his next 100 top-flight games though, as his 17 goals and six assists are far from the figures the Spaniard would be expecting.
