The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news that their club’s on-loan striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic has won the Championship’s Player of the Month award for March for his goalscoring impact with the London club. The Serbian scored five goals in five games for Fulham in the Championship in March.

Mitrovic has divided opinion among the Newcastle fans since he joined the club and whilst none of the Magpies are denying that the Serbian has goals in him, his attitude and disciplinary record on and off the pitch has proven to be a problem for Rafa Benitez. Newcastle have got on well without Mitrovic for the most part of the season and sit 12th in the Premier League, seven points clear of the drop zone, and look set to face another season in England’s top flight after coming up as Champions last year.
Newcastle have been left to get by with Dwight Gayle and Joselu up front after loaning out Mitrovic, as the man they got in to replace the Serbian, Islam Slimani has been out injured since his move and has only managed 15 minutes of game time for the club. Rafa Benitez faces a difficult decision in the summer as the returning Mitrovic, who has been in the goals, will be keen to continue his hot streak into the World Cup and then into the new season in a Newcastle shirt.

Mitrovic is an excellent player and would succeed in the premiership with a club playing to HIS strengths, however his is not the style Benitez and #NUFC need at the moment.

No coincidence that he scores goals there and for country where he has two managers who believe in him and play the team to his strengths.

Very good championship player but not at premier league standard yet if Fulham go up and he has a good world cup may get 20M for him
