Newcastle will be desperate to make some much-needed signings during the January transfer window but unsurprisingly, that seems unlikely to happen.
Mike Ashley isn’t prepared to pump anymore more money into the club but Rafa Benitez will be bursting to find a way around that, with loan signings the potential solution.
Even though they can be costly as well, the Magpies could find it massively beneficial to bring someone in on-loan.
A well-motivated player that could really make a difference to their season is what the manager will be after, which he could find in Arsenal’s Mohamed Elneny.
Elneny, (who is valued at £9 million on Transfermarkt) is out of sorts with manager Unai Emery, having played just 77 minutes of football in the Premier League this season.
For a player of his ability, Newcastle would count themselves lucky to have a midfielder like he, for Elneny could be the difference between relegation battle and safety.
The Egyptian midfielder is unlikely to be on the scoresheet but his break-up play and hard battling in midfield is what Newcastle would be expecting to get out of the 26-year-old.
Arsenal are seemingly (as per Goal) willing to part ways with Mohamed Elneny on a loan basis and Newcastle could be the perfect club for him now that Ki Sung-Yong is injured and Isaac Hayden is possibly leaving this month as well.
He would undoubtedly make a big difference to Newcastle’s midfield and if they could beat competition from the likes of Leicester who are also reportedly (90min quote the Mirror’s live blog) interested, they would have themselves a top addition at an affordable rate.
Would Elneny be a good signing for Newcastle… Let us know!
