After a pretty slow start to the summer transfer window, the Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been absolutely delighted about the recent flurry of activity.
Jacob Murphy and Javier Manquillo have arrived at St. James’ Park as Rafa Benitez gets his squad ready for life back in the Premier League, with the reports from the Sun today suggesting the Magpies could be in line to welcome another new face.
They claim Benitez is ready to step up his interest in Hull City midfielder Sam Clucas, who is reportedly keen to leave the KCOM Stadium following the Tigers’ relegation. For their part, the Humberside outfit are understood to be opposed to selling him until they bring in their own summer targets, though the Toon Army could apparently make a £4m offer.
While the 26-year-old was powerless to stop Hull from making an immediate return to the second tier, he did impress at times in the top flight and the idea of seeing him don black and white stripes next term has proved a welcome notion amongst our local Geordies.
