Newcastle fans discuss a potential cut-price deal for former striker Andy Carroll on Twitter

Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to discuss a cut-price move for their former striker Andy Carroll, who used to be a hero at St James’ Park before a £35m move to Liverpool.

The 30-year-old forward has reportedly been made available for just £2m by his current club West Ham, who look like they are attempting to recoup some sort of fee for the player before he leaves on a free in the summer at the end of his contract as reported by the Sun.

Carroll has made just two Premier League starts this season and has fallen well out of favour at the London Stadium under boss Manuel Pellegrini, and both Newcastle and Tottenham are keeping tabs on the England international’s situation at West Ham.

Given the fact that Magpies’ chief Mike Ashley rarely backs his man in charge, Rafa Benitez, in the market, an extremely cheap move for Carroll could catch his eye, and some Newcastle fans seem up for the idea at least…
