Loads of Newcastle fans have been reacting to a message from Jetro Willems, after he shared some extremely heartfelt words with the Toon Army on Twitter.
Both Willems and Allan Saint-Maximin have become instant fan favourites at St. James’ Park not just for their performances on the pitch but for their behaviour off it. They are both remarkably down to Earth, from the Frenchman’s donations at a fan-run food bank to Willems’ tweets about his performances, both the summer signings just seem to ‘get it’.
Unfortunately though, Willems was ruled out for the season after the injury he picked up in the win over Chelsea, per BBC. The Netherlands international tore ligaments in his knee in the 1-0 win, and could even be out as long as nine months with what Steve Bruce called ‘a horrendous injury‘, report The Chronicle.
He shared an emotional open letter to fans on social media, saying his eyes are ‘full of tears’ and that it was ‘fantastic’ to play for the Magpies. As it stands this is a parting message from the 25 year-old as his loan deal expires this summer, and the responses from fans have been tremendous, as you can see in the Twitter reactions down below…
Been a pleasure to watch you play for us, hope to see you back at St James’ next season.
