Loads of Newcastle fans have been reacting to a transfer update from Lee Ryder, as The Chronicle journalist delivered hope that a January signing may be on the horizon.
According to Ryder, former Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has arrived in the UK ahead of a potential loan move to the Magpies. The fact that the FC Schalke man has already travelled suggests the deal is quite advanced, though Ryder states that nothing has been completed yet.
Steve Bruce’s side have been riddled with injuries this season and they are certainly short of experience in midfield, where Sean and Matty Longstaff have been become regulars due to the lack of senior options.
Bentaleb didn’t quite cut it at Spurs, but the 25 year-old, valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt, has 35 Algeria caps to his name, and has racked up 19 goals and nine assists in 97 appearances for Schalke. Perhaps his most impressive feat at the club was his stunning strike back in 2016, which was voted Bundesliga goal of the season for 2016/17.

Scored or assisted in every 3.5 to 4 games. I’ll take that at this point.
