Loads of Newcastle United fans have been slating Steve Bruce as he spoke to NUFC TV (via the Tyneside club’s website) about his team’s return to training, which was shared on the Magpies’ official Twitter page.
As per the outlet, the players were able to resume contact training at the club’s Benton base, part of phase two of Project Restart where contact was permitted as the Premier League season moves closer to restarting.
Bruce’s side sit in 13th place in the table on 35 points at this moment in time, eight points ahead of the relegation zone with nine games left to play, as per BBC. Considering that they also have an FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City at St. James’ Park to come as well, perhaps the criticism is rather unfair.
However, assuming that the prospective takeover in the North East goes through, the Englishman may lose his job as he is not the man of the would-be owners and, if they are ambitious, they may look for a shiny new name to replace him.
Should Bruce be Newcastle coach after the takeover?
Also, some members of the Toon faithful may not have taken a liken to him given how he became manager after his disputes with Sheffield Wednesday.
These Newcastle supporters slated Bruce on Twitter, with one fan drolly saying that he “puts you to sleep”:
