Many Newcastle United fans have been discussing an update on the prospective takeover in the northeast as the Daily Star have reported that the proposed deal is expected to be announced within days which will rapidly transform the Tyneside club into one of the world’s richest.
Do you think the announcement will come in the next few days?
The report also claims that the Magpies players remain united behind Steve Bruce despite the manager’s future at St James’ Park being shrouded in doubt amid reports of Rafael Benitez or Mauricio Pochettino potentially succeeding him.
Whilst there is excitement within the camp at what the future holds once the £300m takeover is confirmed and a new regime replaces Mike Ashley, the playing staff are seemingly in no hurry to see a managerial reshuffle. Indeed, Bruce has guided the Toon to 13th place in the Premier League table on 35 points so far, eight above the relegation zone with nine games of the season left to play, as per BBC.
These Newcastle supporters discussed the update from the Daily Star on Twitter, with many not sharing the players’ reported stance on their current manager:
Players love Bruce because it’s easy mode
We now know for a fact the players get 3 days off after a win, that’s just ridiculous, sounds like something the best manager in the league John Carver would dish out

I would want Bruce too, he is the supply teacher who lets you get away with whatever you want compared to a real teacher such as Rafa.

If the players want bruce to stay, go out on the pitch for the last 9 games and show us why he should stay. Atm I just cant see bruce taking us forward

If that’s true it’s because Bruce doesn’t work the players. It’s like a holiday 24/7. Rafa never stopped going on about competition in the squad. Clearly isn’t any hunger in this squad to do well and progress. Massive overhaul needed.

The players want Bruce to stay. If true just shows you how much of an easy ride they’ve had and why we’re so bad.

Any player wanting Bruce to stay instead of working under a world class manager needs to be moved on immediately as they obviously have no ambition #NUFC

Hmm wonder why training under Bruce is easier and he allows them to do what they want whereas under Rafa it’s harder because of how tactical he is and organised it’s like that under top manager it’s gonna tough but that’s how there successful
