The Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be becoming concerned that they may not be able to get one of their main transfer targets in the summer due to the performances he has been putting in for the club.
The Magpies have been in fine form since January, which has seen them almost secure their place in the Premier League, with many of the punters believing the additions of Martin Dubravka, Islam Slimani and Kenedy during the winter window have played a significant part in their recent resurgence.
Manager Rafa Benitez will likely want to keep goalkeeper Dubravka, who has expressed a desire to stay with the club in the summer, whilst he is seemingly prepared to give Algeria international Slimani a chance given that his playing time with the St James’ Park outfit has been limited by injury.
On-loan star Kenedy is highly-valued at Newcastle and it is in no doubt that he would be welcomed with open arms as the locals have already grown to love him – however, the nature of his performances could have a damaging effect on their chances to sign him, according to The Northern Echo.
The winger, who is currently on loan from Chelsea, has attracted interest from all corners of Europe and is in demand, which could see the Stamford Bridge outfit drive his price up and try and get the best offer they can, which could give the Magpies great difficulty in trying to compete given the likes of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keen on his signature.
Landlord’s Verdict: The Newcastle locals in the Tavern will be desperate to see the Brazilian stay in the North East, although there will be major concerns among those Magpies fans lining up at the bar that their side can keep the 22-year-old permanently, what with Chelsea regarding him highly as well as interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich rumoured.
