Newcastle: Jetro Willems prompts fans with Twitter post - Newcastle United

Newcastle fans have reacted to a recent Twitter post from inured left-back Jetro Willems.

Willems joined Newcastle last summer on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt – after making 45 appearances for the German club. Since his move to Tyneside, the Dutchman has made 19 appearances and recorded 2 goals and 2 assists in that time (Transfermarkt).

The player has been sidelined since January, after rupturing his Cruciate Ligament against Chelsea which saw the Magpies run out winners with a 1-0 victory. Indeed, despite not playing for months, the Dutchman remains the club’s joint-top scorer this season (per WhoScored) and his 1.5 tackles per game average remain the fifth-highest in the squad.

The Toon Army did move to sign Danny Rose on loan following his ailment though the Daily Mail suggested at the time that there was no option to make that move permanent in the summer.

Willems took to Twitter on Thursday – posting a video update on his recovery from the injury, which left many Newcastle fans in high hopes about the defender’s rehabilitation.
