Our Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping today will redeem their club after a quiet transfer market up until now and, according to The Daily Mail, they may just get that.
The Magpies are well in with a chance of lifting the Championship crown this season with their battle with Brighton looking good to go the full-length of the campaign.
The men from the north-east have had a fine season so far, then, but their transfer window this time around has been anything but.
Indeed, they’ve not signed anyone yet but a late bid has been launched for young Angers striker Nicolas Pepe.
The 21-year-old forward has three goals this season for the Ligue 1 side and whilst that doesn’t seem like many he is quite highly-thought of over in France.
He may prove to be a decent bit of business for the Magpies, then, with the report claiming an £8 million fee could be the price at which he makes the move.
Our Newcastle fans are going to hold judgement on him for now, meanwhile, and are hoping it’s not the only business they do today.
