Our Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern really are hoping that their side is going to bounce back from their opening weekend defeat with a win over Huddersfield next time out.
The men from St. James’ Park lost to Spurs 2-0 on Tyneside after Jonjo Shelvey got himself sent off and so now the plan has to be to try and get three points off of Huddersfield.
Doing that, though, could prove difficult after the beat Crystal Palace on the opening day 3-0 and so it remains to be seen just what happens when they go head-to-head.
In the meantime, though, the club is being linked with a man dubbed ‘The next Andy Carroll’ by the Mirror – though they have competition from Liverpool.
Indeed, teenage striker Connor Simpson is the man in question with his physical displays for current club Hartlepool earning him the tag.
Where he ends up, then, remains to be seen but the Magpies might feel confident that they can get him in with him currently living in the north-east.
It’s typical that young players get labelled as the next whoever and so Simpson shouldn’t be too bothered about getting related to Andy Carroll.
Certainly, if he gets to the Premier League like the former Newcastle man he will be doing well but he’s bound to want to make sure he is less injury prone than the England international.
