Newcastle man talks up ambitions ahead of Premier League return

Our Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hugely looking forward to seeing their side back in the Premier League with it just a summer transfer window away now.

Indeed, the window is going to be key in terms of the club putting together a squad capable of staying in the top flight but many Magpies fans want to see loftier ambitions than just staying in the division revealed by the club.

And, as quoted by WLRFM – via Chronicle Live – striker Daryl Murphy has hinted at such ambitions with him talking about challenging higher up the division.

He said:

“They should be challenging for the Premier League.

“It’s a big club. I’ve played for big clubs my entire career, Celtic and Sunderland are big clubs, but this is all they have. All they want is their football, there’s 52,000 fans coming to home games in the Championship. It’s unheard of, really.”

For Murphy, then, the men from St. James’ Park need to be looking at getting back amongst the elite in the division as soon as possible.

It might take longer than one season, though, and so, realisitcally, stabilising in the top flight needs to be the first ambition for the team.
