Newcastle must spend during the January transfer window in order to steer themselves away from a relegation battle.
This season, again, hasn’t been pretty but in Rafa Benitez, they have a top-class manager who grinds out results no matter how inconsistent his team can be.
A resolute back-line is just about the only thing saving the Magpies from being amongst the bottom three in the Premier League and up-front, they simply have to improve.
There is a distinct lack of quality and creativity in the forward department, which has led to Newcastle being the second lowest scorers in the league.
Now the window is open, Newcastle have the opportunity to improve their team and loan someone like Manchester United’s Andreas Pereira for example.
Pereira, (who is valued at £7.2 million on Transfermarkt) would potentially be instrumental in Newcastle’s battle against relegation and could turn out to be a problematic playmaker for teams to come up against.
The Brazilian has made just six appearances in the Premier League this season and for a player of his potential, he needs more time on the pitch to show his worth.
Newcastle would certainly be very grateful to acquire a player of Pereira’s quality, he could even be the difference providing more chances for the strikers to latch on to.
That is maybe a big ask but the form he has shown in patches suggests that with the right team, Andreas Pereira could be the main man.
It’s safe to say that Newcastle need more than just a single player in January but with money remaining tight, a loan deal may be all they get, even though nevertheless, it could turn out to be a great one.
