Newcastle fans have previously been a tricky bunch to please but one simple way to get their full support behind the team ahead of next season is by giving Rafa Benitez, their hero, a new contract.

The Spanish boss continues to be the gift that keeps on giving and without a doubt, there is no thought other than him being the man to take Newcastle forward. It would be as good as a brand-new record signing if they can tie him down at St James' Park and then, owner Mike Ashley must back Benitez, who is definitely capable of spending a large chunk of money correctly.

He knows and the fans know that Newcastle have a squad right now that could be improved upon and step one could be acquiring Benfica's Franco Cervi, a nifty winger that could make a real difference to their attacking play.

Cervi, (who is valued at £14.4 million on Transfermarkt) is a tricky player who remains an integral part of Benfica's current set-up.

For all the younger, attacking talent embedded within their squad, Franco Cervi has still made a total of 34 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring three times whilst laying-on four assists as well.

Newcastle have lacked quality out on the wings at times this season, with Kenedy failing to recreate his heroics from last season and Christian Atsu rarely getting time on the pitch, so the need for another winger to support Matt Ritchie is very necessary.

Franco Cervi - who was linked with a move to the club in the Sun back in April - is still only 24-years-old and would hence have plenty of time to get accustomed to life in Newcastle, whilst then striving to be the next new signing that turns himself into a fans favourite.
