It's all going on in the North East, isn't it? Sunderland are losing at Wembley and Middlesbrough are still manager hunting, but the biggest news of all comes from the Northeast's Premier club, as Newcastle United could be purchased by Sheikh Khaled for a cool £350 million, and if that happens then a lot will need to be addressed.

It's too obvious to jump in and say that Rafa Benitez and Salomon Rondon need to be tied down at St James Park. Everyone knows that the pair are a necessity if the Geordies want success next season, but one man who may not quite be the name the fans are all calling for to be tied down to a new deal is young Sean Longstaff. The 21-year-old midfielder could quite literally be the club's future.

This season, as you all know, has been Longstaff's breakthrough, and with Rafa Benitez exiling Jonjo Shelvey for a large section of the season in favour of Longstaff, it seems the young academy man is more than good enough and has won over those that make the decisions at the Northeast club. Now, all there is to do is ensure that he stays put at the club and is tied down to a bumper contract.

Normally for a player like Longstaff, thrusting a large contract in front of them at the age of just 21 is not the done thing. However, with Manchester United's recent interest in him, getting his future at St James Park nailed on will be absolutely crucial. It's yet to be seen whether the takeover goes ahead or not this summer but if it does then Rafa will have to tell the Sheikh in no uncertain terms that his 21-year-old midfield maestro simply has to stay.
