Our Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern are eager to see their side sign some top players in the summer window this time around.
The men from St. James’ Park are back in the Premier League after their season away in the Championship and many of their fans are eager to see them get straight back up the table.
For sure, that is going to be easier said than done but the Tynesiders do have the resources available to them and so it remains to be seen just whether or not they can get up the league.
Their resources, though, might just be stretched a fair bit if they go for Gylfi Sigurdsson, with Mark Douglas on Twitter reporting that the Icelandic international is going to cost a princely £40 million if someone wants to sign him:
Swansea will be asking £40m for Sigurdsson. Market is going mad…. https://t.co/9KbyLwvQm9

That, then, is big money for anyone’s standards and the Magpies will seriously have to think whether or not they want to sanction that kind of price for the midfielder, with it potentially a real set-back in their respective chase.
