Our Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait to see their side continue their charge to promotion later today against Leeds with just a few games to go.
Of course, it’s easier said than done that the Magpies will beat the Whites but even so they do look as though they will secure promotion alongside Brighton before too long.
The men from north-east are looking forward to next season, then, and they’re bound to be keen to sign players in the summer window to help them ensure that they arrive back in the top flight strongly.
However, it appears as though that they are going to miss out on Ryan Shawcross of Stoke with his current manager Mark Hughes claiming that a contract offer for the defender will be on the way to quash any move.
As quoted by The Express, the Welsh manager said:
“We’re looking to sit down and re-contract him, along with others.
“That would make sense for everybody. Talk of a move is pure speculation.”
Newcastle look set to have to look elsewhere, then, as Rafa Benitez aims to strengthen his squad with proven Premier League quality.
