Newcastle to be in for lively transfer battle if they decide to bid for 28-year-old

Our Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait for the new campaign with just over a week to go until they play Spurs.

The men from the north-east will have been eagerly awaiting the new campaign more than most fans as they mark their return to the Premier League and they’ll be hoping things get off to a winning start.

Certainly, Rafa Benitez is looking to try and get his new signings bed in quickly with the players that remain from the Championship winning side and it’ll be interesting to see just how he does.

The new signings, meanwhile, might not be over just yet with Lucas Perez linked with the club – by Chronicle Live – though the Magpies are set to have competition for his signature.

Indeed, as quoted by AS – via talkSPORT – the player’s agent, Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle, said:

“Two clubs in Spain have already contacted Perez for a transfer, Sevilla also want to sign him, and a German team and Fenerbahce are negotiating to sign the player.”

The Magpies, then, could be in for quite the transfer battle but our landlord reckons that it would be worth getting the Spaniard in as he has a point to prove:

Landlord’s Verdict

The Spanish striker has always impressed when he’s played for Arsenal but, for whatever reason, he’s not been given much of a chance for the Gunners.

It makes sense that he wants a move away, then, and Newcastle could just be the side to profit from getting him from the north London club.
