Newcastle United: Alan Shearer’s verdict that club is ‘overachieving’ has many supporters divided

Speaking to Chronicle Live surrounding Newcastle United’s season so far, Magpies legend Alan Shearer has gone on to have his say over Steve Bruce’s tenure – claiming that not many supporters ‘can complain‘ with the way things have gone.
The club currently lie 12th in the Premier League and have entered the fifth round of the FA Cup for the first time since Mike Ashley’s takeover in 2007 – with Shearer stating that Newcastle have ‘overachieved‘ in terms of points in the league. Currently working as a pundit for BBC, Shearer enjoyed a fine career on Tyneside – becoming the club’s all-time top goalscorer whilst endearing himself to the Newcastle fan base.
During his time at St James’ Park, Shearer amassed 206 goals in 405 appearances overall for the club (nufc.co.uk) – and while his ability was unquestionable, some supporters have become divided over his latest assessment that Bruce’s side are over overachieving.

Spot on big man. Been a tough slog at times and the football is not pretty on the eye, but on the whole the league position and fa cup progress means it’s a relatively successful season in the mike Ashley era.
