Newcastle fans in the Tavern are in shock about how well their player is performing out on-loan. With major goalscoring problems of their own, Aleksandar Mitrovic was seen a striker unable to provide the all-important goals for the Magpies but since his move to Championship side Fulham, the 23-year-old can’t stop scoring.
In just six Premier League games that Mitrovic has featured in this season due to suspensions and injuries, the Serbian managed just the one goal as he was deemed surplus to requirements at St James’ Park. Last season in the Championship, the £7.20 million-rated striker, according to Transfermarkt, scored only four goals in 25 appearances. Fast forward to this season and Mitrovic has already surpassed that amount in just seven games. With five goals coming in his last four games for Fulham, the forward seems to look like one of the deadliest forwards in the league.
The Magpies, meanwhile, are one of the league’s lowest scorers and so Mitrovic firing in the goals will be adding salt to the wound. Newcastle should look at keeping the hot-head at the club next season when he returns from Fulham because although his temperament may be worrying because of the amount of red cards he picks up. Indeed, truth be told, the Serbian still has years ahead of him and could yet prove the doubters wrong at Newcastle.
Whether Aleksandar Mitrovic can continue his fine record so far at Fulham isn’t for certain but if he keeps it up, fans around the bar agree that he could act the same as a new signing would do at St James’ Park and revive life into the club.
