Newcastle United: Christian Atsu transfer link has Magpies supporters praying for player exit

According to a recent report from Football Insider, Newcastle United could be on the verge of selling winger Christian Atsu to West Brom as the Baggies prepare for a ‘blizzard‘ of late window signings – prompting these Newcastle United supporters to hail the potential exit of an ‘atrocious‘ squad member.
Atsu, who has racked up 118 appearances for Newcastle overall, scoring eight goals and assisting nine others (Transfermarkt), has started just six Premier League games so far this season – with the vast majority of his appearances coming from the bench. Allan Saint-Maximin’s hamstring injury previously afforded the Ghanaian winger an opportunity to show his worth for Steve Bruce’s side, but following the Frenchman’s return and the arrival of Inter Milan winger Valentino Lazaro on loan, his odds of regular playing time may have got worse.
As a result, some Newcastle fans are hoping that West Brom swoop for the 28-year-old and take the ‘atrocious‘ player off their hands – with Atsu offering little in the way of creative flair compared to Saint-Maximin. According to WhoScored, com, Saint-Maximin has averaged a superior dribble success rate of 4.2 compared to Atsu’s 0.9 – potentially highlighting the difference in quality between the two players.
One Magpies supporter even hinted that the prospect of selling the winger is a ‘better‘ one than the reported takeover by Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (The Guardian). Find all of their best comments from Twitter down below.
I’d drive him there. Hes atrocious. Aarons would do just as bad as a job and least hes homegrown
