The Newcastle fans within the Transfer Tavern are delighted to seemingly be on the verge of guaranteeing their safety in the Premier League.
Although football can be a very unpredictable game, Newcastle will be confident that they’ve done enough to avoid the drop, with a number of teams still battling it out down the bottom. Rafa Benitez must surely be applauded as one of the best managers this season, given his small budget, the Spaniard has taken an average bunch of players and got them working hard to achieve their good of staying up.
If the owners can improve finally at the helm of St James’ Park, Benitez may be supplied with a bigger summer transfer budget which can be used to recruit much-needed new talent. A player our punters have seen become increasingly unsettled one the course of the season is Chelsea’s Danny Drinkwater, a player who is rated at £18 million by Transfermarkt. The former Leicester City star moved to Chelsea last summer but after just 12 Premier League appearances all season, his future at the Blues already looks bleak.
Newcastle would love to acquire Danny Drinkwater, also due to the success of current loanee, Kenedy who is also from Stamford Bridge. If the pair joined forces again, this time at St James’ Park, that duo alone could lift Newcastle from the misery of fighting relegation season after season, to the joys of a top-half finish.
Although the season hasn’t even finished yet, transfer rumours are starting to circulate around the Premier League clubs. With Englishman Drinkwater unhappy with his lack of game-time, Newcastle would find no better opportunity to purchase a top midfielder.
