Newcastle United have confirmed that Spurs defender Danny Rose has joined on loan until the end of the season. Amid the initial links, loads of supporters were expressing positive views, with one fan using the word ‘outstanding‘.
Rose, who had been out of favour at the North London club following Jose Mourinho’s appointment, will now link-up with Steve Bruce’s men. The England international will look to fill a gaping hole at left-back for the Magpies, with both Paul Dummett and Jetro Willems out for the rest of the campaign, and Rose will be looking to replicate the form of the latter, who has four goal contributions to his name. Compared to Willems, the 29-year-old has amassed a superior pass success rate of 80% in the league whilst making more clearances (2.5) and winning more offside decisions (0.3), as per WhoScored.com – perhaps hinting at his suitability in replacing the Dutchman in defence.
The former Sunderland loanee was a much-needed addition, with Magpies supporters hailing the piece of business as ‘outstanding‘ and ‘un-Ashley like’. Find all of their best reactions down below.
A very un-Ashley like deal.
