Newcastle United fans here in the Tavern are hoping to secure a couple of permanent transfers in the summer, after seeing the club bring in three loan players in January.
The Magpies have struggled to come to terms with Premier League football since being promoted from the Championship, as relegation has been a worry for many of our local northerners all season. Although, the weekend’s win has allowed for both the club and supporters to breathe a little easier, with Newcastle now taking a look at possible targets for the summer transfer window. Indeed, according to reports in the L’Équipe, Newcastle United are eyeing a move for Toulouse goalkeeper Alban Lafont.
Newcastle United are interested in signing ‘keeper Alban Lafont from French side Toulouse.
The 19-year-old is arguably one of Europe’s most exciting goalkeeping prospects after making his debut at the age of 16, and has established himself as the club’s number one ever since.
However, after enjoying such an impressive start to his footballing career, the teenager is attracting interest from other clubs with Newcastle United being one of them. Although, this is an opportunity that the Magpies’ owner Mike Ashley shouldn’t pass up on, with the potential to either sell the goalkeeper on for more money in the future or to have one of the world’s best ‘keepers at your disposal for years to come.
But, with the club already looking to make Martin Dubravka’s loan deal a permanent one in the summer, it appears that Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot could be heading for the exits if they choose to bring in both shot-stoppers.
This is great news for Newcastle United fans as the club appear to be planning for a successful future, with the Magpies interested in bringing one of Europe’s most promising young goalkeepers to St James’ Park. Although, interest from other clubs could see the shot-stopper choose to take his career elsewhere, with the Magpies not able to guarantee Premier League football for next season just yet.
