Newcastle United: Fans applaud Ayoze Perez following alleged reaction to booing

According to a report from the Chronicle [19:24], former Newcastle United man Ayoze Perez felt disappointed to be booed by the home supporters upon his return to St. James’ Park due to the fact he ‘gave everything’ during his spell on Tyneside – with these Magpies followers on social media applauding the alleged stance of an ‘excellent servant’.
Was it stupid to boo Ayoze Perez?
Yes

No

Perez, who scored the opening goal during Newcastle’s 3-0 home loss to Leicester City on New Year’s Day, used to be one of the club’s better assets before moving on for a £30 million fee to the Foxes last summer – evident by the fact he scored 48 goals and assisted 17 others in 195 appearances for the Toon, as per Transfermarkt.
However, upon his return to the North East last week, Perez appeared to be booed by a section of the home support despite his past contributions for the club – prompting some fans to fight his corner on social media.
Here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
He certainly didn’t deserve being booed. An excellent servant for the club. Maybe the Donnay Army were just upset that he represented a better time.

Embarrassing this. Imagine booing a lad who did nothing but good stuff for us. I’d have him back in a second.

Genuinely embarrassing, like every other aspect of the club under this owner. #AshleyOut

I think a lot of people were disappointed. Many years of service, some crucial goals, and he and his family really bought into the area @AyozePG
