Rafa Benitez was a hugely popular figure on Tyneside, helping to guide Newcastle back from the Championship and to maintain their Premier League status with limited resources, but fans don’t want to see a future homecoming.
Will Benitez ever return to Newcastle?
Rafa Benitez left Tyneside in the summer after falling out with the board over financial issues, with Steve Bruce coming in to replace the Spaniard, signing a flurry of stars in the transfer market from then onward until the conclusion of the summer window.
Supporters were understandably devastated when Benitez called it quits for the Magpies, and were less than impressed with Bruce taking over, but have since come round to the idea following a handful of impressive performances – including back to back wins for the first time this season.
The ex-Manchester United captain can also boast picking up six more points than Benitez at this stage last season, and when the former Liverpool manager spoke about a potential return to the North East, these fans were quick to tell him to move on.
Here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
This geezer is getting on my nerves now. Why is he so concerned with Newcastle. Needs to concentrate on his current job not his previous one

Wants to be near his family blah blah blah and how can people say he was in the same league as Keegan & Sir Bobby… Pardew was a better manager

If he spent less time talking about us and the premier league he might actual turn his China money trip into a success

Bruce > Rafa
