Following a run of two consecutive Premier League victories for the first time this season, many supporters were on the verge of finding positives to Steve Bruce’s controversial reign, but after their latest loss at the hands of Aston Villa, the positivity has all but disappeared.
Two quick0fire goals from Conor Hourihane and Anwar El Ghazi, both from conceding free-kicks, gave Newcastle a mountain to climb in the first half with the Villans gaining a monumental 2-0 lead heading into the break.
Is Steve Bruce taking Newcastle down?
Despite one close effort from Allan Saint-Maximin being tipped just round the post, the lead only looked like increasing – with Martin Dubravka pulling off a string of fine saves to prevent Villa furthering their advantage.
As a result, supporters have quickly turned on manager Bruce following the match – slamming the inconsistency of their side’s performances and hinting it could be their downfall this season.
Here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
You expect a coach to improve areas of the team… glaringly obvious is the attack, and there has been 0 improvement. #nufc

Front 3 still looking like they’ve never played with each other and we’re into November… Joelinton completely isolated again

Won’t happen under Bruce.
Very similar to Pardew. We’ll go on runs of winning a few then losing a few.
No plan B, just see what happens on the day…

We are consistently awful

Also, our recent success was down to defenders scoring. That doesn’t seem like something that can be relied on to persist through a season.
