A post tweeted out by Newcastle United has caused a lot of debate amongst some fans as to whether boyhood fan Sean Longstaff has been good since playing for the Magpies.

As the tweet mentions, Longstaff has now already made 100 senior appearances across the football league and this is a very respectable feat for a player who is only 22 (Transfermarkt).

Longstaff has been key to Steve Bruce's plans since the manager arrived in the North East at the start of the season. The defensive midfielder has played in 11 of the last 12 fixtures (Transfermarkt), but some fans believe his performances have not warranted a place on the starting 11.

Newcastle managed to advance to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after beating West Brom 3-2, but their league form is worrying as they have not won a game since they beat Chelsea 1-0 in January. They are also yet to score since the 21st of January in a dramatic 2-2 against Everton (Premier League).

Many are comparing him to his younger brother Matt. Sean has scored zero goals, whilst Matt, who has played 500 Premier league minutes less than Sean, has managed 2 (Transfermarkt). Newcastle fans feel like they need a more attacking threat alongside Nabil Bentaleb if they are going to escape relegation this season.
