Plenty of Newcastle United fans are ecstatic at the news that Lee Charnley is set to leave the Tyneside club, according to the Daily Mail.
As per the outlet, the managing director will leave St. James’ Park after a handover period commences with the new owners, ending his service of 20 years with the Magpies.
An amicable agreement has been reached between Charnley and Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium that will see the club’s former secretary depart.
The 42-year old has been Mike Ashley’s man in charge of the day-to-day running of the Toon since 2013 but as Ashley hands over control of the club, it seems as if Charnley will follow him out.
As per the article, NUFC supporters on the whole have not always seen eye-to-eye with him being Ashley’s man, and perhaps his association with the CEO of Sports Direct has deteriorated that relationship.
