Many Newcastle United fans are fuming as the Tyneside club’s would-be owners are still awaiting answers from the Premier League about the potential takeover at St. James’ Park.
As per ChronicleLive, the prospective owners are playing the waiting game as top-flight chiefs were approached to comment, but declined to publicly.
The Saudi-led consortium, spearheaded by businesswoman Amanda Staveley and backed by the country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), will be hoping that their bid pushes through so they can take over from Mike Ashley, who has reigned for 13 years.
The owner’s and director’s test is still thought to be an ongoing matter, however, as per the report, sources close to the deal remain confident that the takeover will be rubber-stamped but England’s highest division are looking into the argument of piracy of live television games which was flagged up by Qatar-based beIN Sports.
Are the Premier League being unfair by declining to comment publicly?
These members of the Toon faithful fumed upon hearing the news, and it seems as if some Magpies are getting anxious on Twitter:
Do you ever get the feeling the PL are looking for reasons to fail this takeover. Seems its always a week away.
