Newcastle United: Fans slam Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl’s claims after win

After Newcastle United overcame Southampton 2-1 at St. James’ Park on Sunday to seal their second consecutive victory, some Magpies supporters laughed at opposition manager Ralph Hasenhuttl’s post-match verdict following his side’s defeat.
Danny Ings opened the scoring for the Saints, slotting the ball past Martin Dubravka to put his side into an early second-half lead before Jonjo Shelvey equalised with a towering header from Andy Carroll’s cross 15 minutes later.
A nervy final stage of the game, one where Newcastle pushed for a winning goal, finally alleviated when unlikely hero Federico Fernandez took advantage of a rebounded effort and fired the ball into the roof of the net to heroically win the game.
Now, however, supporters are questioning Hasenhuttl’s verdict after the full-time whistle, with the Saints boss coming out and hinting, via the Chronicle, that his side played better football on the day.
Here’s how they reacted on Twitter.
Bit of snobbery there. Newcastle were lucky but grit and determination are important in the game and his team lacked both

Sounds like sour grapes. Did he also see his team kicking the ball away at dead ball situations and slowing the clock down at every opportunity? As well as gaining about 20 yards at every throw in

The amount of time wasting they did for goal kicks, corners, throw ins and the like surprised they played football for more than 60mins! We were a different animal with AC on, and they struggled to cope
