As per the report, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), the PCP Capital Partners led by businesswoman Amanda Staveley and the billionaire Reuben brothers will all be handed over the keys to the club by the CEO of Sports Direct next week as the Premier League are set to finally approve the deal.
The bid would transform the Magpies into one of the world’s richest clubs and, as per the report, end one of the most contentious ownerships of a football club in the modern era.
It is safe to say that the relationship between members of the Toon faithful and Ashley has not been the best and, if the takeover goes through, it would end the 55-year old’s reign of 13 years at St. James’ Park.
Does Ashley deserve more credit for what he has done at the club?
These Newcastle supporters lauded the news, with one fan branding it as ‘awesome’:
This is the best news we could’ve hoped for other than actual confirmation

Football is so strange.
Loving Newcastle with Ashley is almost impossible.
Yet he could be an hero at someone like Bolton an so on…
Once he has gone, I don’t think we realise just how much of a buzz we will have, we will have our Newcastlr United back, and more 😍
