Lots of Newcastle fans on Twitter have been getting themselves into a panic over the future of Jamaal Lascelles. According to Sky Sports, the Magpies rejected a bid from West Ham of £20 million rising to £25 million for their captain and Lee Ryder has claimed that Rafa Benitez says he’s not for sale at any price.
Rafa Benitez has just confirmed Lascelles NOT for sale #nufc

For the majority of Newcastle fans, it doesn’t matter what’s said by Benitez or whether the club has rejected a bid for Lascelles, with Mike Ashley in charge none of their star players are safe. The fans have somewhat got used to seeing their best players pedalled on for a quick profit. In the past Ashley has sold Yohan Cabaye and Ben Arfa under his manager’s nose, leaving both the fans and the gaffer fuming.
If this was to happen again with Lascelles, there’s no doubt that Benitez would happily walk away. Reports have claimed that Rafa wants to spend a long time at St James Park although he needs to see his ambition matched by that of the club. There isn’t a single Geordie who doesn’t want to keep their Spanish gaffer but losing him is a serious possibility if Mike Ashley continues to run the club in the way that he does.
Here’s what the Newcastle fans on Twitter have been saying:
It's not up to him though is it. Money talks to Mike

35m he’s gone

And yet that means nothing in a Mike Ashley world

I’m sorry but as we all know (remember Andy Carroll) all of our players have a price. Mike Ashley would sell his own mother for the right cash. Anything over £30m and I’d be worried #nufc

That means nothing!!! With Cashley if the right price comes he will sell! Remember Cabaye??? Cashleys so called favourite player???? No one is safe

Not sure the fat lad would agree.

Even from just a handful of tweets, you can see the worry amongst the Magpies that they could be losing both Lascelles and Benitez as a result of Mike Ashley.
