Rafa Benitez is set to take up a role, alongside his managerial post at Dalian Yifang, as a columnist for The Athletic, and his first piece has been all about Newcastle United as he’s shed some light on his side of the story at the club.

Popular Newcastle fan account NUFC360 tweeted a snippet of Benitez’s column and the fans have been quick to jump on it and use it as more fuel for their vendetta against Mike Ashley and it seems this isn’t going to go away any time soon.
The Spanish gaffer led the Geordies back to the Premier League after relegation before achieving 10th and 13th placed finishes in the top-flight, but he was allowed to leave at the end of his contract back in June and it seems a lot of the fans aren’t yet over it.

All I’ve ever known has been Ashley and it has been miserable from start to finish. What I would give to have a new owner, new direction and a bit of hope #AshelyOut

Apparently he mentions that the club refused to upgrade training and academy in this article ? Disgusting really. Club has no ambition

Rafa gets it. Can’t understand any fan who sides with the Club

There’s a lot of accounts on here that are obviously run by young adults, and I forget at times that Ashley is all they’ve ever known, so of course they’d be reluctant to change.
Anyone who remembers a time before Ashley and still doesn’t fight for their club is an embarrassment

The fans still love Rafa Benitez, going off the tweets above, and it might take them a while to get over his exit.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
