Newcastle United: Fans play down 4-1 Manchester United loss

After Newcastle United were downed 4-1 at Old Trafford by a clinical Manchester United side, supporters have played down the result amid a previous good run of form – with Everton up next at St. James’ Park who won their first game under Carlo Ancelotti on Boxing Day.
Matty Longstaff originally gave the Magpies a surprise early lead with an excellent driven finish into the bottom corner before United fired back with quick strikes from Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford to end the half 3-1 up.
Martial then added to his tally shortly after the commencement of the second period, taking advantage of a lapse back pass to calmly dink the ball over an on-rushing Martin Dubravka – with the Frenchman threatening a hat-trick later on, striking the post, before being taken off by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Defensive errors appeared to cost the Magpies dearly, but most supporters think the result isn’t a ’cause for concern’ – here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
X3 individual errors = 3 goals. Coulda been been 2-0 up. Was at OT last season when we were last season. Manure are and always will be quality. Tonight we were poor. We got away with it Saturday. Move on. Cause for concern? Nah, not yet man.

Massive overreaction. We are a decent premier league team pinching above our weight. It’s a miracle we have the points we have. The keeper makes far too many mistakes be be classed as great IMO. We need a pacy goalscorer or we will always struggle. Gayle and Muto out 1 top CF in

Overreacting, Xmas always a tough period and we have tough fixtures. Be grateful of the position we are currently in. Today was a hash of multiple errors, bad shooting and poor quality. Hopefully bounce back against Everton, Leicester be a tough game.

Massive overreaction they are working hard for each other and I for one am very happy with our points tally. Performance comes a distant 2nd and has done for years now, it’s all about survival and getting rid of the owner asap.
