Newcastle United: Fans praise Martin Dubravka following display in Villa loss

Martin Dubravka was one of the only Newcastle United players to leave the pitch with any form of credibility following their 2-0 loss away to Aston Villa on Monday evening, with the shot-stopper pulling out some fine saves to deny the home side an even greater victory.
Two quick-fire first half goals from Conor Hourihane and Anwar El Ghazi gave the Magpies a mountain to climb in the first half, with Steve Bruce’s men failing to stamp their authority on the game for quite some time.
Is Steve Bruce taking Newcastle down?
Yes

No

It took until the second half for Newcastle to even come close to grabbing a goal back, with winger Allan Saint-Maximin forcing a fine stop from Tom Heaton in the Villa net when his hopeful shot looked to be creeping into the bottom corner.
However, barring that moment of magic, they only looked like conceding more – with Dubravka pulling off a flurry of fine saves to keep the Villans from furthering their lead.
As a result, the Slovakian has earned real praise on Twitter for his efforts, with one fan concerned his performance was so good he will leave the club.
Him holding his head high reflects the performance of the game. Only one to leave the pitch with praise

Once Dubravka gets injured we’re finished, will drop like a stone. This club is always winging it with awful squad depth. Never learns.

Would have been 6-0 without him, well played Martin

He’s keeping his head high. But he is absolutely raging inside especially with his defenders.

This says it all really! 10 if them had no bottle on or off the pitch.
