Newcastle United: Fans puzzled by FA Cup Team of the Fifth Round

Several Newcastle fans have been left puzzled by the FA Cup’s Team of the Fifth Round after only two Magpies made the starting lineup.
The FA Cup’s official Twitter account shared the announcement on Friday.
Jamaal Lascelles and Allan Saint-Maximin were recognised with places in the team after their impressive performances at the Hawthorns but surprisingly Miguel Almiron failed to make the cut.
Steve Bruce’s Black and Whites were drawn away to Championship side West Bromwich Albion where Bruce’s team raced into a two-goal first half lead after a brace from the Paraguayan international, with defender Valentino Lazaro adding the decider early in the second half (Guardian).
Indeed, as a result, Newcastle will face titleholders Manchester City in the quarter final at St. James’ Park.
Almiron scored a double and earned himself a top performer rating of 8.55 via WhoScored, but despite his heroic efforts, the 26-year-old lost out to Manchester United veteran Juan Mata. Mata received a lower rating of 8.09 for his performance against Derby County.
Understandably, the Toon Army are confused by the FA Cup team selection as Almiron was arguably the star of the show at the Hawthorns, given his two-goal haul.
Who's the better player?
Miguel Almiron

Allan Saint-Maximin
