After losing 1-0 to Burnley at the weekend, ending a briefly impressive unbeaten streak which included a 2-2 draw with Manchester City, some supporters haven’t taken kindly to the latest praise for polarising manager Steve Bruce coming from pundits Micah Richards and Kevin Kilbane.
Have Newcastle's recent wins flattered to deceive?
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live via the Chronicle, Richards and Kilbane heaped praise on Bruce following his run so far this season – highlighting the fact that they are exceeding the position they were in this time last year.
However, they also appeared to come to the consensus that they are also playing better football – with these Magpies supporters disagreeing entirely with the notion.
According to a lot of supporters on social media, while the results have been better on paper, the football has been far less attractive to watch at times.
Bruce’s side currently sit 11th in the Premier League table with two wins out of their last five – prompting supporters to highlight their distaste for the manager’s praise.
Here’s what they had to say on Twitter.

No. Don’t be daft.

We’re not + I think its obvious if Rafa had a cool £40m to spend on a striker whoever it would be would have scored more than 1 goal in 4 months

Absolute rubbish, we have 30% possession every game, its kinda hard to pay great football when we don’t have the ball. Rafas football wasn’t great either but he had us clicking the 2nd half of last season with Almiron, Rondon and Perez. Bruce spent over 60m but is getting results

Inability to keep the ball, lack of energy to win it back. It’s the basics of football, we are sadly lacking.
End of last season we put in a few cracking performance.

Just because we have ASM this season. Without him, it’s dire. Joelinton is just an expensive Riviere.

Pretty sure that a Benitez team would have managed at least “1” shot on goal against Burnley… 😡
