Loads of Newcastle United supporters have been reacting on social media, after the Magpies announced that Rolando Aarons has joined League One side Wycombe Wanderers on loan until January.
Aarons was one of a number of fringe options the Magpies had been looking to offload after Steve Bruce deemed them surplus to requirements, as the North East outfit faced a £125,000-a-week bill (Chronicle) for wages of players who would not be able to play a Premier League game until the turn of the year.
The forward had featured heavily in Newcastle’s pre-season, but has not made a competitive appearance for the St. James’ Park natives since December 27, 2017 when Rafa Benitez handed the Kingston, Jamaica-born winger his 27th senior Magpies outing (TransferMarkt) on the left-flank at home to Manchester City.
Since then, the Toon product has spent time on loan with Hellas Verona, Slovan Liberec and Sheffield Wednesday, with his time at Hillsborough for the latter half of last season returning one goal and one assist in 10 Championship fixtures.
The 23-year-old has now made the step down to compete in the third-tier of English football, and has joined Wycombe on loan for the first half of the season as they look to build on their promising start to the campaign at Adams Park, with Gareth Ainsworth’s men boasting three wins and three draws after six games.
Aarons will return to Tyneside in the New Year, where he will have 18 months remaining on his contract.
Newcastle fans reacting to Aaron’s temporary move to Wycombe have shared their hope that the 23-year-old can enjoy a profitable spell in League One, although some expect to hear news of injuries.
Here’s how these fans responded when the official Newcastle Twitter account shared that Aarons had joined Wycombe on loan…
hope the treatment table is set up ready for him … physio is going to be on over time … done nothing for us … good riddance …

That is some signing for Wycombe if they can keep him fit

Tbh it speaks volumes that not a single Championship club has come in for him.

Whats the point going to league one when he was doing well in the Championship last season with Sheffield Wednesday

Awful considering he had a great long spell in the championship, been great in cup matches for us. And when the likes of Atsu get in the squad Aarons should be there. He’s constantly been sent out on loan in the last few years and has never been given a chance at Newcastle.
